Due to the wrong sort of cobbles on the turnpike, the mail coach makes an extended stay at The Highwayman’s Halt. Unfortunately, whilst the passengers are thus stranded, a long stay guest is murdered and a large sum of money goes missing.

Is it a fellow guest, a staff member or a passenger who is the murderer?

Some days it just isn’t safe to see what’s come in the mail!

The Suspects

• Ned Nickerley - Gentleman rogue.
  An intelligent man of the world, Ned dresses solely but smartly in black and always seems to have money to spend or, if not money, then assorted valuables such as men’s pocket watches or ladies earrings.



• Hubert Saggingsails - Jolly innkeeper.
  Cap’n Hubert dresses and talks like the eye-patched, wooden-eared pirate he used to be before he decided to settle down on dry land.



• Alfie Broadbum - Talkative coach driver.
  The chatty Alfie wears tatty clothes and is constantly searching for more newspapers to push inside them as weatherproofing.



• Miss Amelia Ravenblood - Bride to be.
  Dressed to attract men, Amelia only has one requirement; that her men be perpendicular, male and still breathing.



• Doris Thumplightly - Frumpy chaperone.
  Bundled up in layers of clothing and covered in a cape, the ferocious Doris is a young ladies bodyguard and organiser.



• Lady Panthea Katt - A refined woman.
  With puffed sleeves, flowing dresses and plaited tresses, Lady Panthea Katt is somewhat out of place at the Highwayman’s Halt.



• Mr Zackary Falsegoldsmith - New money businessman.
  Zackary is a commoner posing as new middle class, a bread and dripping eater with very deep pockets.



• Mrs Abbatissa Falsegoldsmith - Ideas above her station wife.
  Fiercely protective of her new place in society, Abbatissa has developed a very fine accent, wears lots of fake jewellery including a tiara, and carries an enormous handbag.



• Capt Quentin Ramrod - Stiff upper lip, upper class military type.
  A smart, be-medalled soldier, Ramrod is ever ready to take command in a crisis.



• Dolores Saggingsails - Fierce tavern wench.
  Dolores, the pirate-talking tavern wench, possibly illegally wed to Hubert, wears a fashion eye-patch even though it isn’t needed and shares his obsession with extracting money from paying guests.

Never run a murder mystery before? Then don't panic!

There is no special acting required. Guests do not need to memorise any information, and everything they need to play their parts is provided to them in a handy printable booklet. The games are constructed so that everyone has to interact, and scripted dialogues are included to help break the ice and get everyone into character. Even total novices get into the swing of things quite quickly!

The game includes the option of, either a sound file, or a script for the Magistrate who provides the setting, clues, and summaries for each round, as well as the final solution. Which means as host, you too can play and remain completely in the dark as to the culprit.
