A dinner party underway at the Prince Regent Hotel is rudely interrupted by the unexpected arrival of a screaming hotel cleaner. Before she faints, she manages to inform the gathering that she has discovered the body of a dead man in her broom cupboard. As it turns out the body she has discovered is none other than Peter Gordon, the husband of one of the guests.
During the course of the evening the cleaner is herself murdered, and when the cleaner's pockets are turned out by the detective sent to investigate the murder, the famous jewel the "Sultan's Pyjama's" is discovered on their person. However, the jewel is a fake, and so too is the original crime scene - so why, where, when and how was Peter Gordon killed? And who killed the cleaner?
The Cast:
Detective Inspector I. B. Clueless – The policeman sent to solve the crime Efficient in his own peculiar way, Ian Buchanan Clueless has an unusual method
of solving crimes – he involves everyone! If anything he is more like a bungling
detective than a methodical one, but it has to be said, he does get results.
Alice Gordon - the deceased's wife. Alice Gordon likes to think of herself as rich and enjoys spending. She is friendly and outgoing, with a likeable personality, but can be gullible and is not too good at problem solving. Understandably she finds the whole investigation difficult, not least because it is her husband that is dead. She is devestated by his death and cries a lot of the time.
Colonel Geoffrey Simons - A pompous and arrogant millionaire. Colonel Simons' wealth was inherited and he is very used to living the high life. He can be aggressive and sarcastic and has little time for the lower classes, or investigations. Colonel Geoffrey Simons is on holiday with his wife.
Mrs Felicity Simons - His wife. Felicity Simons is on holiday with her husband Colonel Geoffrey Simons. Born rich and married to a rich man, Felicity has never associated with the lower classes, except to do shady business. She is dazzlingly beautiful and although isn’t loud or aggressive, she is more than capable of manipulating people and situations to her advantage. She appears friendly, but there is that touch of ice about her.
Rodney Bell - Businessman. Rodney Bell is staying in the hotel on business. Although blunt and businesslike, Rodney Bell likes women and can be quite charming when he wants to be. He is a man who likes to take charge, a real man’s man, even if he does disagree with blood sports.
Patricia Johnson - Hotel Cleaner Patricia Johnson has a cheerful and sunny disposition but is not what you would describe as bright. She missed out on her education and has been cleaning ever since. She is more than a little outclassed when compared with the rest of the cast.
Julie McAndrews - Widow on holiday. Filled with commonsense and down-to-earth-ness Julia isn’t particularly bothered by blood or death and is quite happy to be involved in the murder investigation. She is Scottish and is used to fussing over people. She has been a widow for some time, but is beginning to enjoy male company again and will attempt flirting with single men that she finds attractive.
Never run a large group mystery before? Then don't panic! Hosting a Large Group Murder Mystery is time consuming, but with ample preparation and a good cast it is really quite simple and great fun! In large group games it is impossible to give everyone a part, instead the mystery involves “cast members” who are fully in the know and act out the mystery, and the guests act as detectives trying to solve the murder. Large group games come in several different formats, clue based, cast based, multi-room, single room, or a mixture of them all. This particular game requires 7 cast (who are fully in the know), use of 1 large room with stage area, and several prop clues. This mystery requires advance preparation, the more notice you have, and the more preparation and effort you put in to running the mystery, the better it will run for your guests.
One murder occurs before the guests arrive and one during the event.
Your guests play the role of detectives. You can have any number of detectives for this mystery, your only limit is the size of your room, and the time you have available. To find out more information about Written clue based semi-scripted games click here Clue based mystery games for large groups.
