A dinner party underway at the Holiday Lodge Hotel is cut short when one of the guests returns back to say that the body of the Tremaine's maid has been discovered. Later on the inspector sent to investigate the crime reports that the Tremaine's jewel the "Sultan's Pyjamas" appears to have been stolen, but they are all very surprised when another guest, Sheik Abdul Hazzar produces the diamond which he claims has been in his possession for some time.
While the investigation is underway a man attending a Star Trek convention also dies suspicously in full view. The question is: who is the murderer?
This murder mystery can be used as either a sequel to the popular "Sultan's Pyjamas" or as a stand alone mystery. Guests need not have played the "Sultan's Pyjamas" before to understand the plot or enjoy the game.
The Cast:
Detective Inspector I. B. Clueless – The policeman sent to solve the crime
Efficient in his own peculiar way, Ian Buchanan Clueless has an unusual method
of solving crimes – he involves everyone! If anything he is more like a bungling
detective than a methodical one, but it has to be said, he does get results.
Mr Patrick Tremaine – Wealthy business man
Patrick Tremaine is a wealthy ostentatious snob, but is nice with it. He is loud, pompous and showy, but very caring of his friends and family. He is deeply in love with his wife. He has dressed for dinner and is in a smart dinner suit.
Mrs Veronica Tremaine – Mr Tremaine’s wife with expensive tastes.
Mrs Tremaine lives the high life. She enjoys company, and is a great conversationalist. She comes across as very posh, and occasionally a little snobby. She is great friends with her husband’s secretary Miss Cavandish.
Justin Hughes – attending a Star Trek Convention
Justin is a geek who is attending a Star Trek Convention in the hotel, which explains why he is dressed as a Vulcan, with the pointy ears, basin hair cut, yellowy skin and shimmery robes.
Miss Felicity Cavandish – The Tremaines’ Secretary
Miss Felicity Cavandish is a friendly woman about the same age as Veronica Tremaine. As well as having a very good professional relationship with her employer, she has become a friend of the family and is very well liked. She is always willing to help out, and put herself out for other people.
Nigel Carratt – Attending a diamond conference.
Nigel Carratt is a friendly business man, expansive and generous, taking everyone into an apparent warm circle of trust. He is ostensibly here for a diamond conference, (hence the business suit) but in actual fact, Nigel is a black marketier and has been trading in stolen diamonds and working at insurance fraud for many years.
Sheik Abdul Hazzar – A wealthy Arab
Sheik Abdul Hazzar comes from Egypt. He is dark skinned, but has a refined British accent despite his white robes, red headdress and decorative sword. He is very proper in attitude and gallant with the women.
Never run a large group mystery before? Then don't panic! Hosting a Large Group Murder Mystery is time consuming, but with ample preparation and a good cast it is really quite simple and great fun! In large group games it is impossible to give everyone a part, instead the mystery involves “cast members” who are fully in the know and act out the mystery, and the guests act as detectives trying to solve the murder. Large group games come in several different formats, clue based, cast based, multi-room, single room, or a mixture of them all. This particular game requires 7 cast (who are fully in the know), use of 1 large room with stage area, and some prop clues. This mystery requires advance preparation, the more notice you have, and the more preparation and effort you put in to running the mystery, the better it will run for your guests.
One murder occurs before the guests arrive and one during the event.
Your guests play the role of detectives. You can have any number of detectives for this mystery, your only limit is the size of your room, and the time you have available. To find out more information about Written clue based semi-scripted games click here Clue based mystery games for large groups.
