Murder mystery scripts are ideal for large scale entertaining. If you have already completed a web search then you know there are a great many companies who perform interactive murder mysteries at restaurants or hotels, but very few who will actually supply the scripts they use which would allow you to put on your own dinner based entertainment without the cost of paying their actors.

Despite what you might be led to believe, running a scripted mystery game isn’t all that hard.

When you buy a cast based game from us we will give you all the information you need to run the event yourself. Your download contains your scripts, guest handouts and answer sheets, character background information and detailed running instructions. In addition, as we regularly host murder mysteries ourselves through our sister company Red Herring Events, we are able to provide expert on going customer support as well. Firstly: having a good set of actors is essential, but they need not be trained professionals. They need simply to be confident talking to strangers, have a flair for ad libbing and an ability to learn lines. Enthusiasm, energy and a sense of fun also helps!

Secondly: all our cast based games come with guest handouts. You either need to print or copy these yourself, or you can talk to us about having them professionally printed. Details of charges for professional printing vary dependent on the number of handouts required and whether we can offset the printing costs by selling advertising space. By finding companies willing to advertise, we can quite often supply printed materials at little or no cost to yourselves.

Thirdly: you need to source props. For many scripts these are easy to come by, for some you might need to do a little shopping, or involve yourself in some DIY. None of our games require expensive pyrotechnics or stage props, but you can spend as much or as little as you want to make your event go with a bang!

Fourthly: you need a venue. Only you know what size of game you are planning to run, so only you can decide on the venue you need. Fifthly: you need to decide on catering. Are you going to feed everyone, or have a drinks and nibbles event. The single room cast based games are designed to be run over a full three course dinner, the multi-room events work best with a finger buffet. However both can be adapted.

Finally: you need to decide on a cost for tickets. When deciding on a ticket price make sure you include all your over head costs: the meal, the cost of buying the script, props, printing, prizes etc.
