Never run large group murder mystery games before? Then don't panic!
Hosting a large group murder mystery is time consuming, but with ample preparation and a good cast it is really quite simple and great fun!
In large group murder mystery games it is impossible to give everyone a part, instead the game involves “cast members” who are fully in the know and act out the mystery, while the guests act as detectives trying to solve the murder.
Large group murder mystery games come in several different formats, clue based, cast based, multi-room, single room, or a mixture of them all.
Fête Accompli has been primarily designed as a fundraising event for a local fête, show, or fair, but can be used equally well as a fun event for a large group.
It requires 7 cast who are fully in the know and who need to be available throughout the day to speak monologues and answer questions posed by the participants, and an optional inspector (who will read the solution at the end). The solution is also provided in plain text to place in a local newspaper if wished.
The murder mystery will require use of 7 stalls (which can be operational, you can simply co-locate the cast ” traders might be very willing to have this happen as their stalls will be sure to be looked at). You will also require one stall to act as the crime scene where the facilitators can explain how to participate, charge participants, give out booklets and collect in answer sheets.
Your participants play the role of detectives. You can have any number of detectives, your only limit is the time you have available. The murder occurs before the participants arrive and one of the stalls they will visit will be the crime scene.
