Personalising your character booklets.
The first step to any personalisation is to print out and fold the character booklets as instructed in the “How to use this game” file. Use the cover of the character booklets to keep everything together for now. You can either include it or discard it when you have finished the personalisation.
As you will see from the character booklets, they fold down neatly into an A5 size, which means if you want to personalise them, all you need do is personalise an A4 sheet of paper or card and fold that over to be the new cover. SIMPLE!
So what kind of things can you do? Here are two ideas, the first is for “The Last Laugh” the second for “You Only Die Once”.
For the Last Laugh we simply scanned a joker from a pack of playing cards and inserted that into an MS word document into which we typed the name of the game and the character’s name. We then printed the page onto “old looking” paper, tore it rather than cut it out, and stuck it to dark brown A4 card.
Rather than stapling the booklet into the cover, we stapled the booklet together separately and then threaded wool through the new card cover and the middle of the booklet creating an old looking book effect.
For You Only Die Once we simply printed TOP SECRET and the characters name onto an A5 brown envelope, cut the envelope along the edges and stapled the booklet inside.
As you can see, personalising the booklets isn’t really difficult and when themed to match the mystery it really improves the whole effect for your guests.
